Looking for the best energy-efficiency a window can offer? Triple glazing is your answer.
Triple glazing works in the same way double glazing does, with panes of glass separated by a dense insulative gas which prevents heat transfer. The difference in triple glazing, however, is another extra pane and another pocket of trapped gas. This means that there are higher levels of insulation, so you’ll stay warmer without having to crank up the thermostat in the winter.
At Crown Commercial, we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of the industry, creating valuable customer relationships and offering some of the most innovative products for your beloved project.
Triple glazing is used successfully in colder climates such as Norway and Sweden, as its ability to preserve heat is vital to keeping these projects comfortable to live in. Triple glazing will likely be a good choice if you live in a rural area where temperatures can plummet during the winter months.
Installing triple glazing will reward you with worthwhile savings on your heating expenditure. Triple glazing is also an option in a variety of window frame materials and finishes. You won’t have to compromise your dream design for energy efficiency; our triple glazing offers both.

Does triple glazing make a difference?
Triple glazing offers more insulative factors than single or double glazing, which is a huge sign of it making a difference. Using an example, the U-value of different materials can be used. U-values demonstrate heat loss. Lower U-values show better insulation, whilst higher ones are not as effective. Brick walls have a U-value of 2.0, double glazed is around 1.2 and triple glazing 0.6. Triple glazing is twice as effective as double glazing and means you will save on your heating bills. However, in regards to period properties, owners should resolve other issues to do with draughts before installing triple glazing to experience the best difference.
Is it worth replacing double glazing for triple glazing?
Triple glazing serves better insulation than double glazing. In the sharp winters of Scandinavian countries, triple glazing is their standard. We recommend switching from double to triple glazing if you find your double glazed windows are wearing with age. It’s also a good choice if you live in a rural area, as temperatures tend to drop more sharply at night than in other areas. If you reside in an urban area and your double glazing works well or is new, the switch to triple glazing may not be so rewarding.
How long does triple glazing last?
Factors such as weather, area, and maintenance influence the longevity of triple glazed windows. We give our triple glazing a 10-year manufacturer’s guarantee but your windows are likely to last much longer than this. We believe that taking good care of your triple glazing, by wiping the frames down to rid them of dirt and debris, will make them last a long time. Twenty years is an estimate for how long they will function at their top potential, yet sometimes this stretches to up to 35 years with minimal insulative degradation.
What is the difference between double and triple glazing?
Double glazing sufficiently insulates your project against harsh temperatures and noise with its two panes of glass and the argon-filled air gap. Argon gas is a key insulative component as its density successfully blocks heat transfer. Whilst triple glazing serves the same purpose, it contains an additional pane of glass and one more air gap of argon. This design brings even more insulation due to the additional number of glass panes. This does mean that your windows will be thicker than double glazing. We understand thicker glass is not for everyone, so we offer different thickness and thinness.
