Patio Doors

  • Customer satisfaction remains very high with our patio doors, and it’s clear why! Ours have been crafted so that they don’t rattle or move in the wind, which many other sliding patio doors do.

We test all our products to check their weather resistance, including our patio doors. This involves rigorously exposing them to harsh weather conditions — all so you can have a patio door that’s equipped to withstand the worst weather forecasts.

Our patio doors are a great way to connect your project to the outdoors and can create a relaxed atmosphere in your project due to the extra light and air. Choose between uPVC and aluminium materials and have your project fitted with patio doors that are durable and easy to manage. Opt for two, three or four panes, all of which are simple to use.

Patio doors are a noteworthy alternative to bifold doors. Our patio doors encourage natural light and fresh air into your project, ideal for those rooms which are a little darker and could benefit from being opened up.

How do you open a sliding patio door?

Designed to be opened with ease yet secure when shut, our sliding patio doors are simple to use. Turn the door handle to an angle to release the door before sliding it as far open as you want. Rollers sit underneath the doors so the movement is extremely smooth whatever the size. When one of our expert installers comes to your property, they will demonstrate how to use your patio doors and answer any queries before they leave you.

What is a lift and slide patio door?

Lift and slide patio doors differ from your usual sliding patio doors, as these doors come off the track when you close the door. It safely secures in its closed position so you don’t feel any draughts coming in. Opening a lift and slide is still easy; just turn the handle whilst lifting the door so it fits back on the track. You will find the door slides effortlessly. Locking the door whilst it’s open is also possible by lowering it off the track, which can be great if you have kids.

Only two panes of glass are needed for sizes up to 5400mm wide when you choose aluminium lift and slide patio doors.

Are sliding patio doors easy to break into?

Regardless of the mostly glass design, sliding patio doors remain very secure as all Crown Commercial Windows glass is double or triple glazed — which is difficult to break. Additionally, we fit toughened glass as standard on all doors and windows below 800mm from the floor. We add complex locking systems to exterior doors so you feel comfortable in your own project. The UK police-led initiative has approved all Crown Commercial Windows products, showing our dedication to optimising security measures at project and reducing the levels of burglary in neighbourhoods across the UK. For a friendly chat about keeping your house safe, contact us today and we can explore how to keep your patio doors as secure as possible.

How wide is a two panel sliding glass door?

Before you start planning your sliding door installation, it would be good to note down the opening width you will require. Sliding doors can be made to fit whatever dimensions you need. They work well for small properties due to the lack of swinging doors, but the space means that you can only open half the door at a time. 1.8m (6ft) is roughly the standard size for a patio door, leaving you with a 90cm (3ft) opening out to your garden. Are patio doors energy efficient?

Patio doors can be very energy efficient, but it is completely dependent on the quality of the door. Choosing a double or triple glazed door including good aluminium or uPVC frames maximises energy efficiency. On top of this, look for an intricate locking system and A-rated glass with a low U-value (remember that the lower the value, the less heat will escape). All of our patio doors are manufactured with each of these qualities considered and in place, providing you with the best option you can get on the market.

How much does a patio door cost?

A number of different components contribute to a patio door’s final cost, such as the material they are made out of, the size you require, and the type of glass used. Aluminium tends to cost more than uPVC does and double glazing is a cheaper option in comparison to triple glazing. Of course, the patio door will be more expensive the larger it is too. Regardless of your specifications, you can be well assured that your patio doors will be made to the highest standard and will be installed by experts.
