Lean-to Conservatories

  • Dripping in elegance and glossy finishes, our lean-to conservatories are a great solution for those with height restrictions around their project.

This type of conservatory is a good choice for bungalows or smaller projects that would struggle to accommodate the usual conservatory size. Lean-to conservatories can vary in size, with steep pitches suiting terraced houses and shallow pitches working well with bungalows. Either way, they can add much-needed living space.

Conservatories are a top way to add light and space into your project. Many hospitable projectowners enjoy the open structure as it works perfectly for entertaining guests. A lean-to conservatory is a simple, no-nonsense option for those with a less is more approach.

If you have some spare space you could see as an extra room, our lean-to conservatories may be the answer you’re looking for.

You can do so much with the space created by a lean-to conservatory. Have a green thumb? Conservatories foster the best environment for plants to thrive as they bring in lots of natural sunlight.

  • The Lean-to conservatory is the simplest style of conservatory, with clean lines that give it a contemporary look that make them a popular conservatory for modern houses. The simple shape gives you the maximum space in a highly economical style.

Whether your lean-to conservatory is traditional or contemporary, the style is perfect for properties that have restricted space under the eaves, like a bungalow, or have an area that’s too awkward to accommodate a conservatory. This is because the pitch of the roof on lean to conservatories can vary, so a shallow pitch can fit under a low bungalow roof and a steeper one would be ideal for a terraced house.

Do you need foundations for a lean to conservatory?

Despite relying on a structural wall from your project, a lean-to conservatory will still require foundations so that it can remain sturdy for years to come. How deep the foundations need to be will depend on the type of soil that your conservatory will have under it. A surveyor will visit and test your soil to ensure we know everything about the groundwork and footings needed.

What is the difference between a lean-to and a conservatory?

The basics of the two are similar, such as the large glass surface to give you light and warmth within your project. Where they differ, however, is that standard conservatories are larger so can have more detailing and pitched roofs, like you’ll see with Victorian or Edwardian conservatories. Lean-to conservatories are likely to have gently sloped or high pitched roofs and generally take up less space as they do not extend too far into your garden. What is a lean-to conservatory?

A lean-to conservatory is a simple conservatory design suitable for smaller properties and spaces. Also known as sunrooms, these conservatories have three glass walls separate from your project and are generally smaller than traditional ones. Select a tiled roof for maximum insulation or a glass roof for lots of natural light. They also allow you to save lots of space which would be sacrificed if you installed a normal conservatory.

Why choose a lean-to conservatory?

No need to worry if your garden space is on the smaller side — lean-to conservatories work brilliantly when you want to keep as much outdoor space as possible. The extension from the house is small, yet you will still feel all the benefits. The pitch of the roof will depend upon your property type. We recommend shallow pitches for low bungalow roofs and steep pitches for terraced houses.
