Are composite doors good?

Composite doors are great all-rounders, providing security, thermal efficiency and style.

Composite doors are crafted in conditions of high-heat and high-pressure to make sure they are incredibly durable and resistant to extreme weather. This means your door will not be affected by natural occurrences such as heavy rain and wind, nor will they easily break down.

In comparison to uPVC doors, composite doors are more energy-efficient. What this means for you is additional insulation to keep the cost of heating down in your project. Like uPVC, composite can easily be personalised so that it reflects your personality.

Are composite doors cheaper than uPVC?

UPVC tends to remain the cheapest option out there due to fewer materials used and a simpler manufacturing process. You will find composite doors are thicker, more insulative and more secure, but that doesn’t mean uPVC is a bad choice. UPVC is designed to be extremely insulative and draught-proofing and is often lighter than a composite door. If you’re looking to let light into your project as well as staying secure, we have a wide variety of uPVC door glazing options.

What is the best material for a front door?

Composite doors – these combine materials by fusing them together to make the best safe doors. CFC-free foam is used in our composite doors for better insulation, meaning this pick is ideal for lowering those energy bills in the winter.

UPVC doors – uPVC doors are many people’s first choice of door as they are cost-effective without compromising on security and style.

How long should a composite door last?

In many instances, composite doors last decades due to their very strong material. 100% CFC-free polyurethane foam is used for its long-lasting, water-resistant, heat-insulating nature. We prefer not to use timber-core composite doors as they risk bowing if water makes it to its inner core. Instead, we used other more reliable and sturdy materials for our doors.

Involve yourself in some small maintenance for your lovely composite door and watch it last a lifetime. All you need is some oil to apply to the hinges and a cloth for wiping away dirt that gathers.

What does a composite door mean?

A composite door contains a mix of materials in order to make an extremely strong front door choice.

Whilst other installers may use timber core in their composite doors, we avoid this as it can warp if it comes into contact with water. Rather, our composite doors contain 100% CFC-free foam, along with other materials that are fused together in a high-heat, high-pressure environment. Aside from their durability, our composite doors are also made with weather-proof hinges and state-of-the-art security locks.

What should I look for when buying a front door?

Figuring out what matters to you most when choosing a front door for your house is vital to make the best decision. For appearance, you can’t go wrong with the beloved wooden door. But if you want a bit more freedom to make your door your own design, composite and uPVC doors offer an array of colour.

Other good things to consider when buying a front door are security, thermal insulation and durability, so have a look at our brochure or contact us so we can help you find the right front door for your project.
