Aluminium Windows

  • Aluminium is lightweight, strong and durable. A strong choice for many, these windows tend to be slimmer than other window frame designs. This means that the glass panels themselves can be larger too. This is essential if you have small window frames and you want more light indoors with better views of the beautiful outdoors.

We are here for you, no matter how simple or how intricate your vision is. Whether you’re looking for steel replacement windows for a period property, or you’re after a sleek contemporary look for a new-build, we can find the solution for you. We make all our products to measure in our state of the art factory in Clevedon, so we can make your dreams become a reality.

Looking for more customisation? We have over 85,000 components to choose from, including every colour on the spectrum in all the finishes you can imagine. We hope we can help you by giving you the perfect aluminium windows for your project.

Aluminium may look slim, but they are one of the strongest materials available for window frames. As well as needing little to no maintenance (aluminium is naturally rust-resistant), they are very secure and hard to break into, meaning they are a safe choice for you and your family.

How long do aluminium windows last?

This is dependent on how you maintain them, as well as the area your project is in and the level of wear and tear they experience – which is the case for all windows. Nonetheless, aluminium windows are some of the most resilient on the market and can last for decades. You could be looking at up to 40 years if you take care of them very well.

A few maintenance tips include wiping down the frames regularly and hoovering any debris or dust that forms in them. This will help maximise your aluminium windows’ lifespan.

Where are aluminium windows used?

Years ago, aluminium windows were seen mostly in commercial properties or schools and colleges, due to their durability and sturdiness. However, more recently they have garnered popularity in modern projects and period property renovation. They have a sleek modern look with the slimline structure, too.

What makes aluminium so appealing is once they have been installed, their quality means you won’t have to worry for years. If the price is beyond your limit, we suggest our ultra-modern and stylish uPVC windows which offer many similarities but at a lower price.

What are the benefits of aluminium windows?

There are numerous benefits such as a lightweight and slimline design which are perfect for large window panes, letting in light easily. Aluminium windows don’t need much attention, only a wipe down occasionally.

No added waste will be involved with aluminium window frames as they are 100% recyclable. Aluminium windows will give you the stylish look you have been looking for as well as being a sustainable option.

Are aluminium windows better than uPVC?

Make no mistake, both types of window frames have massive benefits. It is all based on what you are looking for. UPVC windows are made of tough plastic which is more affordable than aluminium; they do not compromise security or energy efficiency as our uPVC windows integrate modern technology in various aspects. For strength and a slim design, aluminium is perfect. This frame tends to be thin and the best to light up your project naturally.

Are aluminium windows energy efficient?

The common misconception is that because aluminium is a metal and thus gets cold when outside, aluminium windows will be the same. Although this may have been the case once upon a time, our aluminium windows are manufactured with a thermal break. The outside metal and inside metal have a non-conductive material placed between them, meaning the outside chill is never transferred inside.

The type of glazing also determines the energy efficiency of your project and of your windows. Double and triple glazing are what we offer as they will keep you warm in the winter months.

Do aluminium windows rust?

Aluminium is resistant to rusting, unlike lots of other metals. Aluminium does have a tendency to corrode, but all our Aluminium windows at Crown Commercial are treated with a special powder coating to prevent this from happening.

Britannia aluminium windows will last in your project for decades without any cosmetic or strength-related degradation, just remember to partake in the basic maintenance tips of wiping down frames of dirt and hoovering debris out of them.
